New Life Community Center
is a nonprofit, community-based organization. New Life Community Center formally known as New Bethel Community Center (1983-2009)
was re-established June 26, 2009. Since then, New Life Community Center (NLCC) has continued to expand and serve the North
Baton Rouge area through outreach and educational efforts. Our adopted slogan is "Reaching Out and Touching
Others". Our goal is to support mothers and their children through training in literacy development,
HIV awareness and stress management.
Other outreach efforts include an Exercise and
Fitness class for women and girls designed to promote healthier lifestyles. NLCC Food Pantry Outreach
helps feed families who are between subsidized federal/state assistance programs. On an average seven to ten families use
this program weekly. The Clothing Outreach assist families in need of clothing and assist in coaching individuals
to dress for success. The Singled Out Spa component emphasizes techniques designed for the single mother
to manage stress related situations.
NLCC offers programming in basic HIV/AIDS prevention and
education, youth development services, literacy development and computer literacy training. NLCC has formed a partnership
with Baton Rouge AIDS Society (BRASS), Baton Rouge Literacy Coalition, Inner Reflections, LLC Counseling & Motivational
Agency, along with other faith-based organizations. Through these collaborations, NLCC has received capacity-building assistance
in an effort to develop sustainability.
